Safe, functional, and well-maintained schools are critical to supporting student learning and community confidence. Discussions regarding school facilities, transportation, maintenance, playgrounds, safety improvements, construction projects, emergency preparedness, and long-term infrastructure planning.
Cotopaxi School District has identified safety as one of its core district goals, and community engagement plays an important role in supporting thoughtful planning and prioritization of facility and safety needs across the district.
I have also taken an active interest in long-term facilities planning through efforts such as engagement with the Future Spaces Committee. While some of that work has recently stalled, I remain hopeful that meaningful discussion can resume. It is important for the community to have a clear and shared understanding of current conditions, priorities, constraints, and what can reasonably be accomplished in both the short and long term when it comes to district facilities and safety.
